The Risk

I take a giant leap, I step into the wild,
I make a move that many think unwise.
Along with the big boys, I step in as a child,
Perhaps I’m trying on shoes too big for my size.

Perhaps I will fail, perhaps I will fall.
Perhaps I’ll be crushed, being too small.
Perhaps I’ll be tricked, being too naive.
Perhaps I’ll be caught in traps I can’t perceive.
Perhaps I won’t even be given a chance.
Perhaps I’ll be frozen while others dance.
Perhaps I will never learn.
Perhaps I will crash and burn.

But then again,

Perhaps I will bloom and quickly grow.
Perhaps I’ll be fast where others are slow.
Perhaps I will succeed and win.
Perhaps I’ll be heard above the din.
Not just a song, perhaps I’ll sing a Raaga.
Not just a story, perhaps I’ll write a Saga.

I think it’s worth the risk.

The Rat Race

I sit with my legs crossed,
Arms behind my head,
Happy with all that was done and said.
For I have gained, not lost.
I bask in the glow of contentment,
Surrounded by an aura of peace.
The end of a predicament!
Not a frown or a crease,
A soft, happy smile plays upon my face,
Finally! I am out of the Rat Race!

The Daily Grind

The bright sun beats down on the window,
In the blue sky, the clouds move slow.
I watch as the dust of Nature swirls,
I watch as the smoke of Man curls.
I sit here, in a large box,
Breathing air cooled by a box,
Wearing clothes that came in a box,
Eating a meal, packed in a box,
Earning my living, working at a box,
Not outside, among the green trees,
Not outside in the cool breeze,
I sigh and get back to work!

The Cynic

Words of wisdom, repeatedly heard,
A bright future, not what we feared,
A land of hopes and dreams,
Not of tears and screams.

What of the past?
That flew by so fast?
What of the present, now?
What to do and how?
Forget the future distant,
And the wishes non-existent.

Not for love, never!
But for this life, forever!

Recovery

The tidal forces of the heart,
Locking horns with the mind,
Emotions flow, words ebb,
A torrent of hurt,
A whirlpool of tears,
A tornado of love,
A storm of lust,
All is dust,
For beginning to end,
The heart can always mend.

Slow Days

Soft music in the background, I sit and daydream.
Things to do, a list that stagnates in front of my eyes,
My mind trying to grab my attention, vainly screams,
While battling with itself, as it stares at the blue skies.

People scurry about their lives, sweating for happiness,
The TV blares, desperate to distract and entertain,
Yet I sit there, blissful in my dreamy laziness,
I stay in my fantasies, preferring to remain sane.

Entertainment! Devices blasting mindless talks!
Life! Lab rats scrambling through an endless maze!
People! Everyone trying to pull up their socks!
Me? Oh, I just love these slow days!
