On a wing and a prayer,
A furtive flight so rare.
To tame a bucking nightmare,
A dream without hope or care.
Burning wind rushing through my hair,
I ride into the dragon’s lair,
On nought but a wing and a prayer!

Spilling Milk
I stand with my wings spread,
On the hesitant ledge.
I look down and wonder,
Standing upon that thin edge.
My wings are spread,
Ready to fly.
I look down again,
Standing so high.
I wonder again,
Do I dare again?
I leap again,
Without care, again!
Broken legs and soaring wings,
The earth cries, the wind sings.
Broken legs and soaring wings,
I wonder, have I done the right things?

A new beginning
Reality boils, the future implodes.
The world swims, the universe shrivels up.
Beauty rots, love explodes.
Thoughts evaporate, the mind reels.
My heart pumps, endlessly, pointlessly.
Gravity falls over, I kneel.
Gods watch helplessly.
Lady luck leaves
Apocalypse closes in.
My life collapses, present and past.
The soul melts, screaming.
Silently, I quake, holding fast.
She’s gone!

The Net Below the Tightrope
I toss and turn, one of many a sleepless night.
Visions of the future, dreams of the past.
Emotions boil, anger, anxiety, fear and fright.
Concern and worry, all swirl around too fast.
Almost a nightmare, something lurks out of sight.
The goal unachieved, trust betrayed, love lost.
Darkness fogs my vision, I lose my strength and might.
I break into a sweat, my heart heavy with frost.
Then, like an invisible, but inescapable light,
Her arm holds me, soft and slow.
I hear words, so calm, so clear, so bright.
“I love you!”
Suddenly, everything is alright!

The War Veteran
Feels like it’s been years,
Since I saw myself in a mirror.
I see lines marked by tears,
And furrows marked by terror.
I see the tired old eyes,
And the streaks of grey hair,
From a lifetime of lies,
And being treated unfair.
It’s been a long while,
Since I saw a glimmer of love,
A simple little smile,
Or the innocence of a dove.
I stare deep into my soul,
Through my hopes and my past.
I stare at what was once whole,
Long shattered since the die was cast.
I stare at a face tormented by dreams,
Once caked with dried blood.
I try to ignore the screams,
But they return an unstoppable flood.
Feels like it’s been years,
Since I saw my face in a mirror.
What stares back are the fears,
And the legions of dark horror.
I can see no more, I look away…

I miss you
I've accompanied you on walks,
I've joined you in talks.
I've watched movies and sang songs with you,
I've debated and discussed rights and wrongs with you.
I've comforted you and hugged you,
I've irritated you and bugged you.
I've fought with you and missed you,
I've loved you and kissed you.
I've shared your hope and your fear,
I've assured you that I'll always be here.
I've laughed with you, and cried for you,
I've lived with you, and died for you.
I miss you, and I'm still here for you!

Tidal wave of uploads
31 posts in a single day is simply because I've been too busy with other things to update the blog, and I've finally found the time to post all the poems written in that gap, as well as some older, unposted ones :)
