The Cynic

Words of wisdom, repeatedly heard,
A bright future, not what we feared,
A land of hopes and dreams,
Not of tears and screams.

What of the past?
That flew by so fast?
What of the present, now?
What to do and how?
Forget the future distant,
And the wishes non-existent.

Not for love, never!
But for this life, forever!

Recovery

The tidal forces of the heart,
Locking horns with the mind,
Emotions flow, words ebb,
A torrent of hurt,
A whirlpool of tears,
A tornado of love,
A storm of lust,
All is dust,
For beginning to end,
The heart can always mend.

Slow Days

Soft music in the background, I sit and daydream.
Things to do, a list that stagnates in front of my eyes,
My mind trying to grab my attention, vainly screams,
While battling with itself, as it stares at the blue skies.

People scurry about their lives, sweating for happiness,
The TV blares, desperate to distract and entertain,
Yet I sit there, blissful in my dreamy laziness,
I stay in my fantasies, preferring to remain sane.

Entertainment! Devices blasting mindless talks!
Life! Lab rats scrambling through an endless maze!
People! Everyone trying to pull up their socks!
Me? Oh, I just love these slow days!

Now

One life, to live it all,
One heart, to give it all,
One dream, to have it all,
One thought, to do it all,
One leap, to change it all,
And Now is Forever.

I Know

I know that you’re far away, and that you’re busy,
I know you don’t have the time to call me.

I know that sometimes you’re feeling lazy,
Or don’t want to talk, even if you’re free.

I know that we knew it wouldn’t be easy,
And that there are problems that we didn’t forsee.

I know that there have been fights between you and me,
And that they can’t be solved from across the sea.

I know that I can no more call you “honey”,
And that you will no more call me “baby”.

I know that you are trying to get over me,
And that you expect the same from me.

I know that you’ve decided that we can never be,
Although I miss you, and you sometimes miss me.

I know that it’s gone, and it’s over finally,
But I still love you, and I’m setting you free.

My baby is so far away

My baby is so far away,
She sleeps during my day.
Does my baby dream of me?
Oh, how I wish I could see!

My baby studies as I sleep,
We both have promises to keep.
As my darling does her PhD,
Oh, how I wish I could see!

My honey finds her homework tough,
Then she goes to buy some stuff,
When my dear goes to party,
Oh, how I wish I could see!

My honey buys a new shirt,
And wants to get a new skirt,
But when she wears the saree,
Oh, how I wish I could see!

She tells me these when we chat,
She tells me that she’s gotten fat,
But how fat can she really be?
Oh, how I wish I could see!

My honey says she’ll come back soon,
I just sigh and look at the moon.
I really miss my darling baby,
Oh, how I wish my baby could see!

Reverting to Me

Old walls rise up again,
Old habits surface again,
Old guns boom again,
Old thoughts race again,
If only I could turn back time,
Back to when you were still mine!
