Someone who loves you

As usual, the music plays unheard, repeating, a million times over.
Somewhere on a plane unknown, unheard and unseen, it stirrs me.
Over the rhythmic din of the music, I hear the words repeatedly,
It’s not about being with someone you love,
It’s about being with someone who loves you!

Time and time again, it’s been proved to disprove itself!
Known, accepted, and then taken for granted,
The treasure once found and hoarded, slowly loses its value.
It’s not about being with someone you love,
It’s about being with someone who loves you!

Accepted, possessed, neglected, then forgotten.
The treasure lies moulding, losing its heavenly shine,
Tarnished, chained, coveting and coveted by others,
It’s not about being with someone you love,
It’s about being with someone who loves you!

Slowly the crack widens into a hole, and the treasure leaks,
Emptying itself into the hands of those who lovingly stroke it,
Till one day, a single clink leads to rediscovery!
Once more remembering the riches that lay forgotten,
But the treasure is gone, leaked, stolen!

It’s not about being with someone you love,
It’s about being with someone who loves you!
