Try till you succeed

She was sweetest girl ever, that was undeniable,
That he would fall in love with her was inevitable.
Why he kept trying so hard was unexplainable,
Because even he knew, that it was impossible.

He was the person for whom she had the most respect,
Although, from him, she never quite knew what to expect.
She always regarded him as a good friend,
And everyone knew that’s how it would end.

He simply watched as she was stolen from him,
He could only watch as she became the victim,
He watched as her bright eyes slowly became dim,
He watched with delight as she dumped him.

He comforted her, cared for her, and gave words of advice,
He nurtured her, and brought her back to life.
As he did this, she suddenly knew,
That people like him were very, very few.

Her fondness for him just grew and grew,
Until one day, before she even had a clue,
She went up to him and told him straight and true,
Those three magic words, “I love you!”

And they both lived happily ever after..
A good friend and his wife... (laughter).
